No rain, no flowers

The theme for the 2023 Ecostitchers exhibition as part of Derbyshire Open Arts in Beeley was 'No rain, no flowers'.
At the same time I also had a large design project to do for at University called 'Seeds - Growing a Collection', so I chose, due to time pressures to combine the two.

I recycled scraps of cotton and linen, painted with a mix of emulsion and acrylic paint. These were then torn up and made into fabric collages which I’ve free machined and hand stitched into, adding floral motifs drawn with the sewing machine. I added paper ephemera and the quote 'No rain, no flowers' which was printed onto white cotton and then coloured with a Sharpie pen. These fabrics were then used to make a range of products, as this was part of the brief for University, some of which are shown below.
